I'm in the process of making a real webpage for RideClub, and made the tentative banner last night. Wanted to get everyone's input, as it's layered in photoshop and it can be changed around if need be. Being new to the picture album software, it can be viewed under "billy's broken ass truck" or whatever in the sub gallery, until I get a photo gallery login. Time to get some sleep.

BTW, any photoshop users remember how, when something is highlighted, to increase the width of the highlighting outward by X pixels? Works well for outlining, and it's been so long since I used photoshop that I don't remember where the command is.

i believe what you want to do is the Filter -> Other -> Maximum/Minimum.
Minimum will make it bigger, Maximum will make it smaller.

both very tight, would be sweet to have the banner change every once in a while between photos. Shawn's design could easily change to a new picture behind the font.

Awsome thanks Brian. Ok, final version of the entrance banner is in a sub directory under my member page, as well as what may become the main page banner in some form (bling bling yo). I'd just link to the pictures, but don't know how.. anyone care to enlighten? Let me know if any more changes are needed. Now on to the web page itself...

are you refering how to link images in the forum?
just click the img button and put in the url, you can get the url image by right clicking on the image in the gallery and properties.
I like the entrance logo a lot!! I can write a script that rotates the different images randomly.
Maybe we should just use that for the main logo too and ditch a "Welcome page." The main page will still have links to forum/gallery/etc anyhow.

we really need to have some graphics and stuff on the site! at least remove the "phpBB" logo with one that says rideclubsd
new site design for front page, fonts can change around but some thing like the hypercycles front page would be good for us too. the header could be used for the forum(which we can change colors back to black) and gallery.
maybe sponsors pics and links on the lower right?

will be workin on the special stuff, like the random picture and random logo on the front page. do you guys want an article section? i think it would be a good idea to get ppl to come to our site.. if anyone feels like writing anything like "how tos"
also, whenever you post on any forums, i recommend having a rideclubsd.com link in your sig.

Hey Tommy, I emailed you the modified transparent .gif for the front page to work with black since you couldn't read the .psd file. Here's what it should look like on the homepage:

Me too - I like this more!
Also, i thought that we are "ucsd social club dedicated to promoting .... OFFROAD activities". Which would exclude anything regarding to the street - be that motorcycles or race cars. Ofcourse alot of members are into a number of different things, but isn't RideClub strictly about offroad?
And if so, then we should change the greeting paragraph on the first page.

I think I counted 45 "ride"s or "riding" s in the greeting. Let's use some synonyms.

feel free to post up your own greeting message here and we'll use the best one. i have no idea what the direction the club is headed, i just figure, ride=everything on wheels. maybe the leaders can clarify that one for us.
i'll put the new logo up later tonight wheni get home, thanks sean

looks tight tommy, thanks for all the work thus far. Good start on the welcome page, but probably have to remove non-offroad stuff as mentioned.

I like the new version more! Thanks a lot Tommy for all your work.
Now, maybe Billy wants to make somehting up for the front page - something that will kinda explain a little more who we are - UCSD affiliated social club promoting responsible, but fun indulgence in off-highway activities such as dirt biking, pre-running, 4-wheeling, atv-ing, etc. for the greater benefits of mother nature and society in general, improving quality of life of UCSD students, and spreading UCSD spirit to all kinds of weird places nobody has even been to before... probably cause they are prohibited by law...
just kidding of course...
but Billy should know what to put
;)

this is exactly what it should read (to be read with ukranian accent):
