unless we have a place to work I will roll out with my bike, that would cool to go on big group rides w/ trucks providing they don't run my ass over

What? You have a place to work. Oooohhh, u mean a nice, enclosed, spacious, and on even ground place to work, hahaha :D. Anyways, riding around on bikes with trucks/buggies is all good. The best way to do that without the bikers gettin smashed is to have them follow the larger vehicles, because the bikes stop way faster and can also catched up faster. Also when we cross someone else's path then the larger vehicles will meet the other group first.

bwaha I just mean that if by some miracle we are in a commercial space by then I will be spending all my free time in there and not in the desert, but if not I can deal with working on my truck outside, eating dinner at your house, and more frequent riding trips.

good call on the trucks in front, I don't trust Tomas's shiesty brake lines haha

bomber

I knew what u were talking bout buddy! Although, I'm not too sure about the whole Jesse eating dinner at my house, we always end up with no food in the house and all of our candy missing, hmmm. And yes, Tomas definately has some shiesty brake lines, so he will be in the front for safety reasons, LOL.

I might come and bring my taco, but in reality you guys don't need me - just make it a requirement for everyone to bring a shovel on desert trips :).
Do you guys want to go for 2 days or just 1? I would prefer to go just on Sunday.

There's nothing like 4 hours of dirt in your mouth to consumate a ride.

Kidding.

Folks, it's a goddamn huge desert - no need to line up like a bunch of ducklings ;)

Is that a Yes, I'll take my truck or Yes - bike session ?

If sean drives it is safe to say we will spend more time pulling him out them him pulling anyone else out

best way to describe sean's driving in the desert: fast with no regard for his life or that of his vehicle

just playing, but i am not riding with sean again (while sober anyways) until we have some serious steel tubing surrounding us

I will most probably come, but only for 1 day or 1 night, just like I posted earlier
I would prefer sunday day to anything else - leave early, like at 6 and come back once it gets dark out there, back in SD like at 8-9.
Everybody else?

i'd like to do a lot of night stuff too, so i would vote for leaving here saturday night or late afternoon and coming back sunday night.

let's see.....we'll probably leave tomas's house at midnight like we always do...stop by jack in the box for an hour, get to plaster city around 2am, make fun of each others truck for 15 minutes, hit up plaster city whoops, pull over and make sure jose's IAC is still hooked up and tomas's bedsides are still on....except this time we won't sweating our asses off....we'll be freezing our asses off.

Never thought I'D be saying this to someone else, but your a paranoid bastard. =p

And for the record, I've been stuck once and only once in my life where someone else had to pull me out. You just happened to be along for that ride.

Now that I think about it, I know several people that make me look like a wuss with their 2wd stock trucks. Actually, I pose a scientific theory based on these experiences: There is an direct relationship between the amount a truck is hopped up for desert and the greater the driver drives like a pussy, as well as in inverse relationship with the former and the amount that the truck is driven, ultimately with the graph flattening out with the truck not being driven for more than 6 months. Sounds like I might be on to something.

Kidding again.

"Detour out to the desert"...what the hell??? Also, I thought everyone was down for going Sat. AND Sun., not one or the other or Sat night Sun. stuff. I am going out there in my truck, with Lucass sometime Sat. morning and leaving on Sun. afternoon around 2 or 3'ish. I will have my intake setup much better than last time, so BK's comment about the IAC checkups should only occur once maybe :D. It will be a really fun weekend. Thorsten it will be worth it to bring out the Tracker, there are sand hills out there that we need to see if it will make it up. Do it. Do it....Do it.

01-26-2006, 12:37 PM

well, I wont be able to leave before early afternoon on Sat.
I'll be looking to get all my homework done this weekend sharing that class with Mr. wheels619 ... who, opposed to me is actually listening to that class right now instead of writing dumb messages :D

Anyways, looks like I have to take out the Tracker ... but, if there is some space on a truck I'd like to put the bike out as well. Jesse, how/when/where do you ride?

ua taco
01-26-2006, 04:27 PM
does anybody besides Brian and Thornsten want to leave on Saturday night and come back on Sunday?

I have to be back by 12 on Sunday if I leave on SAturday night, because I have to work on a robot for my 156a class and with our crazy class schedule there is no time to waist, and the design studio is only open between 12 and 6 on Sunday and closed on Saturday. So if I will go on Saturday night, I'll have to leave like at 9 on Sunday morning.

Depending on when I end up going, if anybody (Thornsten, Jesse?) want to bring their motorcycle and stay in the desert same time as me, I could put it in my truck. I think 2 bikes, if that is possible, is max.

Let's decide on something!!...

I may be one of the ppl leaving in the afternoon on Sat. due to time restraints of getting the truck done. I still have a few things to get done to it before I can drive it. I will be thrashin' to get it done, and I most likely will, so don't take this as me backin' out. Soooo, ya if I have to leave in the afternoon 6pm at J-Box sounds good.

Bk you can finish your truck, just cruise over tomorrow and work on it all night like I will be doing on my truck. I need to do some major wiring stuff, which Tomas will be lending a hand with, install my brake lines and plasma cut a section of the hood bracing on the inside to fit over the new x-memeber. We will also probably be working on it for the first half of Sat. but I can't remember if you said you had something going on???

the beams just have oil on them and probably some power steering fluid so the sand was sticking to them. I havn't checked but i hope the powder coating is fine.

Its really hard to tell if the bumper got pushed up or not. I looked at the frame near the body mount for the core support and it didn't buckle, have to take a better look. I have to admit that jumping this whoop was actually my biggest achievement this weekend. But now, thinking about it, what really worries me, I have no visual memory at all of being in the air. The "video recording" pauses before hitting the launch pad and resumes on the other side. I have no idea, how high I was, how I landed and where I landed ... that is a bit freaky?!

@Jesse: btw. the leftovers were all bk's stuff

masta-t
02-06-2006, 09:56 AM
i think we got your jumping on the video jose took. He's going to try and make a dvd this week for everyone. When's the next trip going to be? First weekend in March?

6wheels
02-06-2006, 10:48 AM
... probably the really bad ones at on the outside bumps. For some reason those didn't work at all for me! Later I went for the ramp in the middle. that produced absolutely perfect, smooth jumps. I think u know what I mean, 'cause it always launched you up really high on the middle one :D :D ... you had fun there ...

Really good idea to start planning for the next trip, this one was way to short! The earlier start planning the more people can organize to come.

But, please, start a new thread
