so i'm beginning to believe that "Taxi" is about as good as "The Core"
yes, taxi, the one with fallon and queen lati....something. it's got a crown vic with a hood scooped supercharger but supposedly has a titanium vortech centrifugal blower along with the queen busting out ridiculous urban moves on a cross country frame with a full face helmet. it also has one of the sweetest frisk scenes to come about.

there is only 1, but real big, thing that sucks about american movie TAXI - it is literally a copy of a french movie TAXI that came out like 3-5 years ago in Europe. The same idea of super cool taxi driver with a car that changes with a push of a button. Same idea of bank roberies and the taxi guy/girl helping an unfortunate police officer catch them. Alot of other little details that were just copied from the french movie, such as a guy who needs to get to the airport and throws up after the super fast drive or that the guy cop is interested in girl cop, who is his higher officer, and mainly very similar ending of the race at the end of the movie - where the robber's car ends up on the portion of unfinished freeway with a gap on each side.
The french movie also has parts 2 and 3, I believe, so let's see if there will be american Taxi 2 and 3 too.
I liked the movie alot, but comeon man - copying somebody like that and not even mentioning the origin of your ideas is f-d up. Plagiarism can be looked at differently, but I think this example just plain sucks. If I was producer of the original french movie I would sue the producers of the american copy. I guess american producers just assumed there'll be nobody in US to judge them, since nobody watches a lot of european movies that don't come out in the movie theatres or are available at the moviestore.
for those interested, you might be able to find a copy of the original french movie on the internet to download. Probably in french, but it is still worth it. I think they've got some cool motorcycle tricks in that movie too, although I might be wrong, as I watched it a good number of years ago. Part 2 is cool too.

hey!
nice to see that you actually checked out the website and our club!
Some people here have motorcycles, some prerunner trucks - 2 wheel drive trucks with long travel suspension to drive really fast in the desert, some have 4 wheel drive trucks, and some just plain 2wd trucks. Sometimes we go to the desert, about 1.5 drive east on freeway 8, sometimes we also drive at little offroad places nearby around San Diego. I'll save your phone number and call you next time we are going somewhere nearby. my number is 18584140781. when we plan to go to the desert we usually post it here, in the upcoming rides section. also a bunch of members are in UCSD mountain bike team and during fall quarter is their colegiate racing season. because of this they are gone to the races most of the weekends this quarter, but will focus more on motorized off-roading after this. One member is actually planning to race in a motorcycle race in a couple of weeks. It will be fun to watch.

One of these 650 grunters. Not exactly the typical off-roader, but apart from jumping (matter of machine weight and me not wearing diapers, because I'd shit myself) it should do everything and even get there without a trailer.

Greetings fellow riders!
I first learned about rideclubsd.com from some choppy vinyl lettering on the side of what appeared to be an ex-forest service pickup launching from a parking space on La Jolla Shores Blvd, then spinning the tires shifting into second gear.
The next day I noticed the truck parked in the same general area (just in front of my apt complex) as I was returning from a MTB ride.
Today I was about to stop and help a young rider on an EX-250-F16 who had apparently run out of gas, when around the corner I notice a thoughtful fellow rider carrying a fuel cannister from... his pale-green-alleged-ex-forest-service pickup. and I saw those choppy-looking vinyl letters again. I instantly forgave you for the burnout I witnessed the other day when I realized you were in a select group of riders I have much respect for: those who stop when they see a rider in need and offer their assistance.
to boot, it appeared you were on your way out to the desert to make some rooster tails.
So, greetings to you, whoever you are, and congratulations, your advertising was highly effective.
My name's Nick, I ride a copper SV-650S on the street, a '99 YZ-250 in the dirt, and an '05 Giant NRSC2 when I can't afford to leave my humble La Jolla apartment.

Wish I could take you up on the offer to ride this weekend. My YZ is out at a buddy's place in La Mesa, and I haven't done tech since my last ride at Plaster City a few months back. I'm on-call this weekend so I can't leave La Jolla. We're talking about riding sometime next month at a track up north (somewhere) to set up the suspension on his new CRF450... and to dial in a new rear shock I put on my YZ.
I graduated from and now work at UCSD, for Housing and Dining Services... I do IT stuff.
Been riding for four years now, started on an EX-250, and have the SV now. Saw someone's 1st gen SV in the gallery, can't remember who... whoever you are... are you on socalsvriders.org?
Cool to meet some folks from UCSD that are into all the stuff I'm into.

edit: link to the enormous file: http://cooleon.us/files/SISbxqrM/rebecca%20and%20florence.JPG
future reference, you can specify the width and height of an image file....inside the first img tag, just add width=whatever and height=whatever. be sure to keep the aspect ratio the same otherwise, your image file will get screwed up. for example, your original image file has an aspect ratio of 1.333, but if you change it, say how asians see it, heh, 1.7777, then you get something like this:
http://cooleon.us/files/SISbxqrM/rebecca%20and%20florence.JPG
the 1.77777, or 16x9 is a reference to drawn together, one of their skits was "how asians see the world". so i'm not saying i see two fat heads, well, maybe tommy might :D

... you posted the original. Take an editing proggy (photoshop, acdsee ... whatever) and resize it to maybe 640x480. My browser has a "resize to fit"-button, which scales down things that are too large.
Also, maybe that image provider (cooleon.us) has some scaled down versions, so you don't have to do it yourself.

thanks jose, i do crunches with jesse every night after we help each other stretch our hammies
i think that picture is actually 100% legal, no passengers and helmet laws are actually only for quads on blm land. at least thats what i read in the rules many years ago, that helmets are 'strongly recommended' for moto

That's good that you and Jesse loosen each other up, make sure to do it after sweatin' hard too. hahaha
I am quite sure you are required to wear a helmet at all times on both. The Dunes are all BLM regulated and I know you have to wear a helmet, even when riding a 50 inside of your RV corralled camp. Seen a bunch of ppl get ticketed for that at Gordon's on both 50's, big and small quads and bikes. So just so you save yourself $80, wear your helmet at all times while the BLM is near!

My name is Justin I ride a KTM 300MXC. I'm Sagittarius and I enjoy long hill climbs and trail rides in the sunset. I'm from the Bay Area so I've never ridden desert. The furthest south I've ridden my dirtbike is Hollister, which I will mention is a bad ass place to ride. I also ride Carnegie (Livermore), Prairie City a.k.a. Hangtown (Sacramento), Cow Mountain (Ukiah), Stonyford (middle of nowhere), and Middle Creek (Upper Lake). I have rented quads at Pismo as well. I used to race family enduros (in middle school) and I've raced one hare scramble.

Anyways, KTM3 sounds like a damn sweet ride - I think its the first European engineered bike in the club.

My bike will be down here May 4 at the latest and possibly as early as April 27. Just in time for the race on May 6. I believe the May 6 race is at Superstition (correct me if I'm wrong). For someone who has never ridden a dirtbike in desert or sand would any of you recommend I try that race? If I do race in May who can take me out there?
I'm hoping my bike will be here April 27 so I can get some practice in the desert but that's not extremely likely.

oy quite unfortunate timing for me, i'll be prerunning in baja for the june 500, bk joser you guys gonna be ridin??
i'd recommend play riding a little just to see what the terrain is like, cuz there is some really different stuff all over. hitting something new in a big dust bowl is not the best way to start out in my opinion. sux i wont be riding here when u first get your bike down, maybe weekend after?

hi all, I found out about rideclub through a library walk table where I met Flo and two guys but I can't remember their names. I see one of them riding his mountain bike on campus through the trees and stuff all the time, super fast :-D
I'm pretty clueless about offroad stuff so I'd love to check out some races or events and learn more. I've got a background in street bikes and now supermoto. I'm hoping to go riding offroad sometime soon somehow. Got my eye on a couple of dirt schools...

The yz is a 2004. My roommate Bengt just bought an '07 crf450x, but he's gone for work all the time. God I need one of those bikes!!!
Let that collarbone heal up nice and straight so we can do some riding this winter! I still have never really ridden in the desert, Bengt and I always go to Pine Valley. I'd love to check it out, though.
Bill,
In case you're lookin for a ride tomorrow, the senior citiizen rideclubsd contingency...me.... is doing the pine valley corral canyon thing ... meeting at the pine valley exit parking area at 8:30,,, myself and one or two vet/senior friends..You're welcome to join us.

Own a 99 4x Tacoma a Polaris Rzr and a crf 450r
Usually you'll find me at Gordon's well or Ocotillo. But truth be told I love races and wish I could get out to more. Biggest problem right now is a lack of people to go with
Trying to get a new job so I can get a tow/DD and build the taco into a mild 4wd "chase" truck and get on a team and head back to baja.
Been around ttora.com, dezertrangers, rdc for more than 10 years. Just recently saw a link in someones sig on dr I think and it reminded me of a this place. Pretty sure my buddy nick used to be on here back when he was at ucsd a few years ago
