I DEFINITELY want to go out before the race, but I really don't know when I could between now and then.
I've raced in the truck at night there and been around there plenty at night. Also, I've ridden Lucass' quad at night many times, but only a couple with his LT susp. We're going to install one of T's monster HID Hella's to the front if we can finish building the rack, so that should be pretty helpful if we get it done.
I'm thinkin about racing this one, too.

Joser, you and lucass want to hitch a ride in the duty?
How many people will be headed out there? We should figure out rides. Also, I'm assuming we will be camping over night? Should we bring firewood?

Sure, thanks for offering. I'm hoping we can get the quad ready for this race. Lucass' health issue is making me think it may not be a good idea, but I'm going to let him decide if he wants to do this race.

I'll probably have better points opportunity staying in my own class as an ironman. Also a better demonstration of how I'm progressing in my perpetual effort to earn a factory sponsor:D (team AARP-Honda) Or maybe now that they've gotten a taste of fame in Baja, AARP-Beta?????;)
And B, wuzup w/your bike service and carlito; have you guys gotten in touch yet?....Should I bring your bike to SD ?

cant freakin get a hold of him cuz of his work sched, whatevers. you probly dont need to bring it, if i am racing (cruisin on stock light) i'll probably roll to EC earlier in the day to set up the light. ....unless you are already bringing the trailer then ya, otherwise not worth the hassle

25% probability that I'll bring the bike. I think Mom's coming with me this week end. If she decides not to come then, most likely I'll bring my bike and stop at live oaks springs or golden acorn sunday, hence, i'll bring your bike along, as well: maybe you'll have time to dx the estart problem.

Thanks again Tomas for letting me use the light..

nice mount!
would one have to worry about breaking the light if the quad flips and then not ahving any light at all? would a light hoop around the light be advantageous?

hellz yes we have to worry about that! that's why my plan is to not flip the quad... :D :o
Lucass and I are both gonna be going at a pretty safe pace this race. We haven't been out to the dez since May and we're both out of shape, sooooo we'll be doing this one for fun mainly. A hoop around the light is a good idea for sure, but I think for this one we'll be alright. I'm packing a couple flashlights in my camelbak for back-up lol.

Lucass and I are trying to figure everything out right now. We have a problem, because we were going to play our softball game which ends at 4pm and sign-ups closes at 5:30pm sharp (I just spoke with IV Racing). So we're going to be talking it over later and getting a final plan together.

pretty sure i'll race. Joser whats up with the online entry, do you still have to be there by1730 if you do that?
Mark, the guys on D38 inform us that if you and I team you cannot earn points in the senior class (i cannot race in your class) SO we can both iron man, find other partners, or still race as a team just for kicks on your part. I'm down with whatever, but if you are at all in it for points this season I recommend you get some this race.

Affirmative, 1730 is the cut-off time to sign-up or pay if you signed up online. I'd recommend signing up online, the lady I spoke with said on average you're at the trailer for 30 seconds or so haha. There's a separate line for online signer-up'ers where you just walk up, sign your name and pay then you're done. But this still has to happen before 1730.
I should also note that each team member pays the FULL price for this one. Something to do with combining the team and individual races??

It was a good race. We all got thru it safe.. Billy teamed up with a guy we met inline he crashed and got a flat tire the first lap so Billy finished the whole race.. Billy was trying to pass doc and went off the course alittle and hit a wall and layed the bike down.. Doc did good had to adjust the light after the first lap it was alittle high.. Jose and I teamed up on my quad. We got 4 laps in jose started and it was a live start, he went to the left away from everyone to stat out of the dust but it backfired and he went into some real big slow mounds of dirt. The only problems we had was the light kept shutting off on us which was pretty scary and my steering stabalizer went out during the race.. It was a pretty good course some new areas that the blm opened up.. I still really need to get into shape and have to get use to the leatt brace.. All in all a good and safe race.. I'm sure everyone will add what I left out..
Lucas
It was great to be back at the races with the rideclub boys.
There's nothing else like it.
My ride went ok, but the first lap was a little tricky, the light was aimed a bit low so it was tough trying to see the arrows up ahead; got off the coarse and lost quite a bit of time finding my way back. Second lap was a lot better, no problem finding my way. Major problem, and it came as a big surprise to me, was for some reason, still to be determined and corrected, night riding in the silty sand was exceptionally difficult and slow for me, not sure what the scoop is on this, but it will be resolved asap. only got two laps in, mostly from losing time getting off coarse on the first lap.
The rideclub pit was fantastic, fixing the light as well as the multiple hydration options and goggle maintenance!
One good thing isthat this race should make up for the dnf I got earlier in the season; no other masters racers made the show, so I should get points for first.

Race was super fun for me, always nice going in with no pressure. Like Luc said I teamed with a random dude from the sign up line, he had a sweet dual sport :D and made the first lap but was hurtin.

Worked out well for me tho to be able to do an extra lap cuz we woulda only got 4 anyhow. Good warm up for the season. Riding at night..... scratch that.. RACING at night is TOUGH with a stock light! I knew it would be limiting but not to the full severity. every time I passed someone or especially when I got lapped by the leaders it was AWESOME to be able to see, was able to really crank it up for a few min. Talked to Damian (3rd oa) after, he provided sight for me fur quite a while heading across to and down pole line road. Lol it was nice of him to have a lil trouble getting by. Also each lap felt waaaaaay better than the previous, on my 3rd one I was able to carry a lot more mo thru the bigger hills n drops since I knew which were pretty safe. did a lot of nose bombing to keep the light on the ground!
We tried to set up a nightrider on my helmet, thanks to all the crew for busting ass getting that going and also for the general help prepping in the pits, it was kinda mayhem and I'd have had mucho trouble getting ready on my own. Unfortunately I had to stop and unplug the helmet light in the first couple miles cuz it was too close and so bright I couldnt really see .. well .. anything ahaha. That thing will be awesome for pit bikes and should be better when we have proper prep time.
